The College
Prep Initiative
offers FREE, helpful resources to
college-bound students. Not only do we offer free formal workshops on the SAT,
ACT and other aspects of the college application process, but College Student
Coaches are also available every Saturday to provide personalized help at the following branches: Lucien E.
Blackwell West Philadelphia Regional Library, Joseph E. Coleman Northwest
Regional Library, Parkway Central Library, Northeast Regional Library, and the

The LEAP
After-School Program
provides homework assistance, computer literacy, library skills, and
multicultural enrichment activities for school-age students in grades 1-12.
LEAP is in operation after school on weekdays from September through June at
all Free Library locations. It's an open drop-in program, so no registration is
necessary. For more information, please contact your local library or

of Philadelphia.
Teen
Tuesdays:
Every
Tuesday afternoon during the school year, teens meet at the Central Library for
activities, fun, and snacks. Some popular programs have included: hip hop dance
workshops, conflict resolution, teen talent shows, SAT prep, teen open mic,
poetry slams, teen art exhibitions, and more. For information, call

The Dawn Staley Foundation
Dawn M.
Staley, a professional basketball player and Olympic Gold Medalist, is a Philadelphia native who grew up in north central Philadelphia. The foundation
supports a variety of programs including an After School Program, , , the
Annual DSF Black Tie and Sneaker Gala, as well as "Day in the Park,"
an annual daylong community celebration in North Philadelphia. Click here for

Breakthrough Collaborative
Breakthrough Collaborative is a national non-profit that increases
educational opportunity for high-potential, low-income middle school students
and inspires outstanding college and high school students to pursue careers in
education. Students commit to a minimum of two years of tuition-free intensive
six-week summer sessions and after-school programs in which they take classes
in core academic subjects, and participate in elective courses ranging from
astronomy to African-American literature. Breakthrough's classes are rigorous
and small (a maximum 4:1 student to teacher ratio) and full participation is

Centers
CTCs are
community centers which provide a variety of free or low-cost computer training
programs to people of all ages. These programs may include an after-school
program for children, resume-writing and interviewing programs, financial

PACTS Program – The Franklin Institute Science Museum
The PACTS (Partnerships for Achieving Careers in
Technology and Science) program at the Franklin Institute is open to middle and
high school students in the Philadelphia Metro area. PACTS provides hands-on
science workshops, career guidance, trips, and special training to students who

EW afterschool programs provide a safe place for
students grades K-12 to strengthen and reinforce regular school day academics,
recreational and personal skills. They are engaged in active, hands-on learning
