Homework and Test Prep for High School Students

The District is providing free access to Shmoop, an award-winning online homework help and college exam test prep program, for all District students. Shmoop includes prep courses for the SAT, PSAT, and AP Exams. For more information, click here. The District also provides free SAT prep classes on Saturday mornings at The School District's Education Center, 440 N. Broad Street.

 

 College Board Online Resources

 

“My College Quick Start” which enables students to access their online PSAT/NMSQT scores, personalized SAT planning kit and resources for college/career planning. To access, click here. “PSAT Skills Insight” provides hundreds of sample questions and the skills needed to move to the next score band. To access, click here.

Upward Bound at Penn

 

The goal of University of Penn Upward Bound Program is to increase the rate at which low-income, first-generation-to-college students enroll in and graduate from a college or university with a bachelor’s degree. For more information, click here.

 

Upward Bound at Temple

 

Upward Bound at Temple is an all-year pre-college program for students enrolled at Thomas Edison, Simon Gratz, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin and Kensington high schools. For more information, click here.

 

Math/Science Upward Bound

 

Math/Science Upward Bound (MSUB) is a federally-funded program which provides an academic year program and a summer program for high school students who are interested in pursuing careers related to math and science. For more information, click here.

 

Free Workshops for College-Bound Students and Parents

 

The Blues Babe Foundation, in collaboration with Central North Epic Stakeholders and Project HOME HYPE Teen Program, present a series of free workshops for college bound students and parents. Futures

 

Philadelphia Futures is a nonprofit organization that provides promising, urban high school students with the tools they need to achieve their dream of a college education. The organization’s centerpiece program, Sponsor-A-Scholar, helps students from economically disadvantaged families to succeed in high school, and to pursue and complete higher education. TeenSHARP College Prep program

 

A 10-month Saturday program for students ages 10-16 that equips youth with the skills, knowledge, and high standards necessary for leadership and academic success. The program prepares youth for and promotes the highest levels of educational attainment and achievement through its highly interactive training sessions, experiential learning trips, community service and applied research projects, regular assessments, and individualized academic advising and planning.
